We Care for Patients with Dental Anxiety, Fear, and Phobia

Does the thought of visiting the dentist even for a cleaning make you feel anxious or afraid? You are certainly not alone! Many people suffer from some form of dental anxiety or fear, and it is perfectly normal to feel nervous if you need more complex treatment or surgery. If you suffer from a deep phobia of the dentist or dental procedures, we understand the debilitating nature of your situation, and we are here to help you feel calm, safe, and comfortable receiving care from us. Our team takes even mild dental anxiety very seriously and approaches each patient on his or her own terms, helping you find the most ideal form of sedation so you can feel completely at ease at our Van Nuys, CA office. Is anxiety, fear, or phobia keeping you from visiting the dentist? We welcome you to schedule an appointment at our office and experience how our sedation dentistry options and experienced, compassionate team can make all the difference!

We Care for Patients with Dental Anxiety, Fear, and Phobia

Local anesthetic is injected into to the interior lining in the mouth to numb only the area to be treated. For more major procedures, we use local anesthetic with other forms of sedation to block sensations of pain and help patients relax.
Nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) is inhaled through a mask covering your nose. The gas helps patients relax and feel comfortable and can be fully controlled by our team. Once the mask is removed, the effects wear off for a quick recovery.
Oral sedation is a pill taken a few hours prior to your appointment. Patients who opt for oral sedation will feel drowsy, but remain awake during their procedure. More powerful than laughing gas, this sedation takes longer to wear off.
IV sedation is administered through the vein in your arm and is the highest form of conscious sedation. IV sedation can be personalized throughout the procedure to provide the most ideal level of relaxation and pain control for each patient.
General anesthesia is the deepest level of sedation only used for the most traumatic procedures or complex surgery. You will be completely unconscious and unable to respond or feel any pain while under general anesthesia.
